Miss Keeley Monsen
Laboratory and Quality Manager
Miss Monsen is the Laboratory and Quality Manager at Oncologica. Keeley has a BSc in Forensic Science and Neuroscience and a MSc in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine. After studying she went on to gain over five years’ experience working as a Genetic Technologist in ISO15189 accredited Molecular and Cytogenetic laboratories. During this time Keeley became competent in a number of different laboratory techniques which include; Blood extractions, Microarrays, PCR, Sanger sequencing, Next-generation sequencing, MLPA, Haplotyping and carrying out various quality control measures. Keeley has experience of using a variety of technical software to analyse, score and report results of many of these tests. Furthermore, Keeley is competent in running a disease based service alongside a clinical scientist and is capable of carrying out generalised laboratory duties such as maintenance of existing equipment and assisting with the introduction of new techniques into the laboratory.
Over the last few years she has gone on to provide specialised laboratory training for colleagues as well as carrying out local inductions, and in the development and control of documents relating to these procedures.
Keeley has recently joined the voluntary register as a genetic technologist under the Academy for Healthcare Science.
